Merchants Millpond State Park 6-25-11

A truly fine day of canoeing at Merchants Millpond. A place of much history and raw beauty. The park was smaller than expected but we still managed to get four hours of paddling in. A different experience it was like canoeing through a forest. Hoped to see a gator but they were not to be found today.

Contentnea Creek trip. 6-18-11

We managed to get up on a Saturday morning at six and get out to Contentnea Creek nice and early. We put in at the wildlife river access in Snow Hill. Lots of fallen trees and an undulating creek bed made for some hard paddling at times. We saw a bald eagle up close! We also chased a few beaver for a spell. look for a beaver head in one of the pictures. Its kind of small but its there. Saw a couple of fat owls too!
